Baby Gingko outside my office.

I just couldn't sit inside on a day like today. It is absolutely beautiful so I sat outside my office on the steps and sketched this budding Gingko tree.

Earth Mama

In reverence to the earth on her day, I have sketch this. Thank you earth for sustaining life. Thank you for the air we breathe and the water we drink. Thank you for providing food and medicines for us. Thank you for proving us with beauty and companionship. Amen.

Ssssshe's a ssssssnake.

Snakes often are paired with the feminine in mythology. Is it because women are more sensual, able to move and undulate like a snake? Is it because we shed our old selves and are reborn over and over again? Is it because our venom can fell a man in under 30 seconds? I love these beautiful reptiles, how they move, their decorative skin, their delicate tongues. At the tree of knowledge, was it a male being in the body of the snake tempting Eve? Or was it a fellow female being saying to her sister, "it's time to wake up and take a bite to know who you truly are." I wonder??

My two spiritual selves.

During a meditation while teaching qigong today I was imagining I was the inside the moon and the moon was inside me. The Godess Kuan Yin speaks to me in these moments...but always there is also a connection to the oldest more African Godess comes to me. It is a strange combination but they both speak to me...Kuan Yin speaks to me of the moon and the sea, the African of the earth and our bodies. Both inform me of my deeper feelings of connectedness. Sometimes I try to make sense of why they both inhabit the inner landscapes of my mind and truly I never really get a clear answer. That is fine as I find beauty and wisdom in both.

Protection

Ancient protection is powerful in its simplicity. It simply states that a boundary exists, not to be crossed or trifled with.

I have a painting I did 4 years ago during difficult times. Today I decided to do another more abstract version. The Phoenix is tattooed on my left arm as well. It symbolizes cycles of death and rebirth. Parts of us are always dying and being reborn into new creations. Like this piece...

The beast within.

It is better to know the shadow self than not. Most of the time without us realizing it is running the show. Maybe it's time to look into the shadows and see what is lurking there. Do not think you can destroy or rid yourself of its presence....you cannot remove parts of your mind. You can however embrace it with love and listen to what it has been asking for since the beginning.

Collecting Light

Collecting light both external and internal. It collects around like static electricity. Flying around her like fire flies.

They are always watching. Moving through life we forget. No matter, they do not.
